- Eugene Biassi Perry
- He was born to Antonio “Tony” Perri and Mary (Carvello) Perri, in Grand Junction, Colorado. US Census records show his given name as Domino Perri. His marriage and military records show him as Biassi Perisi. His parents were both immigrants from Italy. The 1900 US Census shows that Eugene was also born in Italy. The 1910 Census shows his birthplace as Colorado, and he maintained that he was born in Grand Junction. His father was a laborer for the railroad and a farmer in Pomona. His mother was a homemaker. They lived in the Riverside neighborhood. He attended both the Bryant School and the Lowell School. Eugene states in his interview that he became an orphan sometime in grade school and that he lived for a few years in an orphanage on the corner of 3rd Street and Pitkin Avenue. He attended school through the 8th grade. He worked for the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad for thirty years, starting in 1912 as the water boy when he was thirteen years old, and working his way up to Section Foreman. He also worked for the Coors Bottling Company and for Café Caravan. He married Rose Chiodo on November 21, 1920 in Green River, Utah. They had three sons and five daughters. They later divorced. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, the Eagles Lodge, and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge. He managed men’s and women’s softball teams in Grand Junction from 1948-1982. He was honored as Grand Junction’s ‘oldest native’ during the town’s Centennial celebration in June 1982. *Some information for this biography came from an obituary for Eugene B. - He was born in Green Valley, Illinois and moved to Palisade, Colorado in 1905, when the family came to Palisade for the funeral of his grandfather, and his father was offered a job. He was a peach grower, skilled in tree grafting. Father of three girls.
