Jackie Glenn Gisclar
-
He was born in Port Arthur, Texas to Jack and Flora Gisclar. The 1950 US Census shows his father working as a chemical plant operator and his mother as a stenographer at an oil refinery. He grew up playing baseball and football, and going fishing. He was raised in a half-Baptist, half-Catholic household, but denounced organized religion in young adulthood. He was kicked out of the house by his mother when he was a teenager and went to live with his grandparents.
He attended school through 12th grade in Bridge City, Texas. He was an all-state football player, but was removed from the school football team for being involved in a fight that resulted in a serious injury. He was expelled from school shortly before graduation. He enlisted with the U.S. Marines on September 14, 1966 in Houston, Texas.
He did his basic training in San Diego, where he served as the billet commander. He then attended communications school and became a radio operator. He served in the Vietnam War, where he attained the rank of corporal. Upon his return home, he served as a radio instructor for the Marines in the continental United States and later in Hawaii before returning to civilian life.
He married Barbara Cole in 1971 in Texas. They divorced in 1975 in Arkansas. He attended college classes at the University of Arkansas, Adam State University, and Mesa College in Grand Junction, Colorado. He moved to Colorado in March 1977. He married Karen Reed on March 17, 1984 in Canon City, Colorado. He was the father of two children, Beaux and Jaclyn. Colorado Marriage Records show that he married again in 2005, this time to Angela Walsh.
Apart from the military, he has worked as a musician, a welder, a bouncer, a gas station attendant, and a postal worker.
