Lars Larson "L.L." Hydle

He was an immigrant from Norway who worked as a teacher and school superintendent in North Dakota prior to coming to Mesa County, Colorado. He became the first dean of Grand Junction State Junior College (now Colorado Mesa University), from 1925-1928. He handled much of the school's expansion work on the Western Slope. He also taught a class there. US City Directories from the 1920's show him as single and living in the YMCA during his stay in Grand Junction. He married Louise Evangeline Holman in Indiana in 1939. He died in Los Angeles in 1972.

Laura Evans (1871-1953) was Salida’s most prominent madam. She conducted business from what is now the current home of the Mon-Ark Shrine Club on West Sackett in Salida, Colorado.
