Mr. Weir
A Scottish "iron master" who worked at the grand junction iron foundry in the early Twentieth century.
Mr. Wickes
According to oral history interviewee Eugene Perry, Wickes was the proprietor of the Wickes Hotel, which was located to the west of the St. Regis Hotel on Colorado Avenue in the early Twentieth century. He lived near 7th Street and Orchard Avenue. He developed a cancer which disfigured his face. He was apparently a kind man who would give Lorna Doon cookies to children.
Mr. [William?] Hughes
Early Twentieth century Parachute farmer.
Mrs. Combs
She ran the nursery on 10th Street and Chipeta Avenue in the early Twentieth century, assisting doctors in the delivery of children. She was a widowed mother of one son. She once suggested, during a difficult birth, that the shoulder-blade could be broken, allowing the child to fit through the birth canal. This suggestion was acted upon.
