The Salida Opera House was built using funds raised by the Salida Opera House Association in 1888 and the house was opened on New Year's Day 1889. Starting in about 1909, the facility was utilized to view picture shows with accompanying orchestras. In the early 1940s, the facility was known as the Salida Theatre and was used primarily to show motion pictures. The name was change to the current Unique Theatre in 1965. As of 2016, the Unique is currently threatened with demolition since being condemned. yes yes
