In addition to a swimming pool in the basement, a bowling alley and a gymnasium, it had rooms on the second and third floors that single men often rented. Its construction was funded largely by William Moyer. Building costs were also funded by Orlo Williams, a board member, who held an annual fund drive during this period. The gym often hosted community classes put on by the WPA during the Depression. The Grand Junction Junior College held classes in the gym. The YMCA had a youth club called the Pioneer Club, which was like the Boy Scouts but emphasized hiking. The YMCA also hosted a youth camp on the Grand Mesa, and owned a camp facility there that was maintained by the Wisemen's Club, an associated service organization.
