<marmot:placeNotes>Built in 1911, it served students from the former school districts of Loback, Columbine, and part of Pomona. The school was part of Appleton Consolidated School District 39, the first consolidated district in Colorado. The school housed grades 1-12. In 1954, the high school portion of the school closed, and students were given the choice of going to Fruita or Grand Junction High School. The building burnt down around 1955, although the brick auditorium-gymnasium still stands (built 1938). Former fire chief Frank Kreps put the building's fire in 1957.
