<marmot:placeNotes>Colorado Mesa University's second and current location was first occupied in 1937, with the construction of Houston Hall. According to oral history interviewee and former college vice president Mary Rait, Houston Hall was constructed when the college received a federal grant, allowing it to leave the decrepit former Lowell School building at 5th and North, which housed the college from 1925-1937, but had been condemned.</marmot:placeNotes>
