Along with Loma, Mack has also been a farm and ranch community. According to Jerome and Agnes Kiefer, who grew up there in the 1910's and 1920's, the town was very well kept, clean, and with a lawn near the hotel that held gatherings in the days when it was still a railroad town. It had two grocery stores, but no mercantile store, and people had to shop elsewhere for non-perishable goods. The town declined significantly in population after the closure of the Uintah Railroad.
