<marmot:placeNotes>A place where horses were taken to be cared for on Fifth Street and Colorado Avenue, in the location of what later became the Montgomery Ward garden center. It burned down in a fire in the early Twentieth century. The December 2, 1882 edition of the Grand Junction News reports that a Judge Harlow built a stable at the same intersection. The Barton and Terrell stables may have been a carryover of the same business.

According to Richard "Dick" Williams, the firm in the 1920's kept its carts across 5th Street under the awning of the Park Opera House, where the Museums of Western Colorado now stands.

The company had weights attached to the bits, so that when the weights were thrown on the ground, the horses might think a person was holding the reigns and stay put.</marmot:placeNotes>
