Hawthorne Park, Grand Junction, Colorado Walnut Park Children's Park 1882 On the block between 4th and 5th Streets and Gunnison and Hill Avenues Grand Junction Mesa Colorado 81501 USA Hawthorne Park was originally named Walnut Park, and was one of Grand Junction's first four parks, platted by the Town Company in 1882. It sits on the block between 4th and 5th Streets and between Gunnison and Hill Avenues. In 1908, the Hawthorne School was built at 4th Street and Hill Avenue, across the street from the park. In 1916, a city ordinance changed the name of the park to Hawthorne Park. At that time, it was also know colloquially as Children's Park. yes yes
