Mt. Lincoln School, Mesa County, Colorado Mesa Colorado USA A school located three miles west of Palisade, Colorado in the early Twentieth century. It was part of Mt. Lincoln School District, which formed in 1898. US Congressman Wayne Aspinall went to Mt. Lincoln as a child, and later taught there. According to Basil T. Knight, who served as principal of the school beginning in 1923, the building had been constructed to house a high school, but had reverted to grades 1-8 by the time he took over as administrator. According to Avon Taylor Jr., Avon Taylor Sr. was the principal of Mt. Lincoln for six years prior to becoming the principal at Palisade High School.
