William Radcliffe took over, built an upscale lodge, and established fisheries. He forbade local people from fishing the lakes, angering the people of Cedaredge. When one of Radcliffe's armed guards shot a man that was trying to fish at the main lake in 1911, an angry mob burned down Radcliffe's lodge and destroyed his fish hatcheries. Radcliffe was away at the time. For safety reasons, he was never able to return to the area. He went home to England and sued the United States Government for compensation. yes yes
