<marmot:placeNotes>A ski resort, Mesa County's first, that Roy, Edith, and Russel Sisac owned and operated in the 1930's. The resort was located in the Mesa Lakes area of the Grand Mesa. It seems from Edith Sisac’s oral history interview that the ski run may have first opened in 1938. She and her husband stayed at the family-owned Mesa Lakes Resort during the winters of 1938-1940 in order to keep the road to the ski area plowed and open.

In his oral history interview, Russell Paige recalls helping build the ski area. According to Paige, they cut down trees in the vicinity of Mesa Creek and cleared the course. They then brought up motors that were used to pull tow ropes.

They formed the Grand Mesa Ski Club and charged dues of one dollar. When they had enough money, they paid to replace the old ski ropes. The Mesa Lakes Ski Run was eventually replaced by the Mesa Creek Ski Area.</marmot:placeNotes>
