<marmot:placeNotes>The third location of the Mesa County Fairgrounds (known previously as Uranium Downs). Prior to moving to Orchard Mesa in 1930, the fairgrounds were located in Lincoln Park, near 12th Street and North Avenue.

The park was renovated in the mid-1940's. According to the oral history interview of Robert “Bob” Collins, who took part in the park’s dedication as a radio broadcaster, plans for the park were laid out by Harry Burnett at the St. Regis Hotel in Grand Junction while the Battle of the Bulge went on in Europe in 1944. The park was completed in 1945. Jack Waddrell Memorial Stadium (Jack Wadlow Memorial Stadium?) was built to hold rodeos and horse races. Members who signed onto the park’s charter included many prominent Mesa County people.</marmot:placeNotes>
