<marmot:placeNotes>The Lincoln School was built in 1925, shortly after Clyde and Josephine Biggs donated land adjacent to Lincoln Park to the Grand Junction School District. The Biggs and Clarence Kurtz first developed the land east of 12th Street and adjacent to Lincoln Park. The school’s construction, and that of four others, was funded by a bond issue. In 1955 the school faced overcrowding, and a cottage was built at 516 N. 19th Street to house younger students. Another wing with four classrooms was added in 1957. The school became known as the Lincoln Park School sometime in the 1960’s. The school underwent extensive remodeling in 1968, with the addition of a multipurpose room and kindergarten. The school ceased operations in the 2000’s. The building is now occupied by Grand River Academy.
