<marmot:placeNotes>The Pear Park School, part of Pear Park School District 18, provided education for grades 1-8 from sometime before 1900. Its building was large for a rural school. Minnie Chatfield was an early teacher at the school. She was influential in her field and teachers from around the state visited her in order to observe her teaching methods.

After the Pear Park School District consolidated with Central School District 46 in 1946, graduating students were able to attend high school at the newly named Central High School.

The Pear Park School closed in 1969, after the Central District consolidated with other Mesa County districts to form Mesa County School District 51. It operated as a day care center named Nancy's in the 1970's and 80's, and is still a day care center. Chatfield Elementary School, named for Miss Chatfield, was built next door to the old Pear Park School in the late 1970's.</marmot:placeNotes>
