The street was also the location of Stranges Grocery at 232 Pitkin, an early grocery store. The building still stands, and is now on the National Register of Historic Places. The store was owned by Carl Stranger, one of many Italian immigrants on the street, including Eugene Longo, and Eugene and Susie Mendicelli. Grand Junction's train station is still located between 1st and 2nd Streets on Pitkin. yes yes
