<marmot:placeNotes>A community hall built at what is now 2511 N. 12th Street in 1922. It served the Fairmount area, which roughly was bounded by North Avenue and Horizon Drive on the south and north, and by 7th Street and 15th Street on the west and east. At the time of the hall’s construction, Fairmount consisted mostly of pear and apple orchards. Students from the Fruitvale area used the hall for dances, as did others in Grand Junction. It was also a polling place and held all manner of community events. The building changed ownership from the Fairmount Country Club to the Fairmount Women’s Club. By 1946, it had fallen under disrepair, but was renovated under the leadership of Minnie Cheney. As of 2020, it was the location of a pipe and tobacco business. *Some information for this entry taken from historic7thstreet.org.</marmot:placeNotes>
