<marmot:placeNotes>When the church’s first location at 4th Street and White Avenue became too dilapidated and small for the congregation, the church, under the guidance of Father King and Father Havlisten, purchased land at 1050 North Avenue. The new church was listed in the Grand Junction City Directory by 1949. According to oral history interviewee and church member Harriet “Muzz” Johnson, the church did not buy enough land for the church, and other people in the community quickly bought up surrounding lots that the church sorely needed. In a short time, then, the church ran up against the same kind of overcrowding it had faced in its first location, and also had need of a larger parking lot. In 2001, it moved to its current location, a new church at 3888 27 ½ Road. The church building at 1050 North Avenue still stands. It is owned by Colorado Mesa University, and currently houses their Outdoor Program after housing Little Mavs preschool for many years.</marmot:placeNotes>
