Indian Park, Bookcliffs, Colorado USA A location in the Bookcliffs mountain range accessible from the Winter Flats and Dry Forks roads in De Beque. According to oral history interviewee Charles Edward Burg, it was a place where early settlers and cowboys camped so they could "look around." According to Burg, some female campers even put up a cabin there, close enough that they could haul water from nearby Monument Rock spring. The area had a creek, but also many gnats. According to William Whatley, there were rumors that some Utes had died from smallpox there, and that there were Ute burials in the area. Oral history interviewee and cowboy Walter "Dick" Lloyd remembered several wild cattle that lived in Indian Park in the 1920's and 1930's. It is now known as a place to see wild horses. yes yes
