<marmot:placeNotes>The Mack School opened in 1906 in a warehouse building that had previously been utilized by the Uintah Railway Company, with Bessie C. Cox as the teacher. The building had been remodeled to serve as a school, but was relocated away from its noisy location near the tracks to a place just south of the hotel. The school began as part of New Liberty School District 37. In 1922, it became part of the newly created Mack School District 44.

The school served a student population of K-8. Beginning in 1922, graduating 8th graders were allowed to continue their educations at Fruita Union High School. The Mack District built a new school following the passage of a bond issue in 1922. The new school had one room for grades 1-4, and another for grades 5-7. The school also had a teacherage. The community continued to utilize the old school building after 1922. Judge Kennedy showed films there, and for a time, a local couple made their home in the building.

After school district consolidation with Mesa County Valley School District 51 in 1951, the Mack School remained open another two years before closing in 1953. Its last principal was Roger (Prescott) Green. Students were bused to the Loma and New Liberty schools, and Prescott went on to be the principal at Riverside, among other schools.
