Neither Dorothy Green nor Veda McBeth give a proper name for the hotel in their oral history interviews. Floyd and Marjorie Thomas refer to it as the Uintah Railway Hotel. According to Agnes and Jerome Kiefer, who grew up near Mack, the hotel and its surroundings were kept immaculate when Mack was still a railroad town, with a nice lawn that was used to host town gatherings. They recount the hotel’s elegance and that it was a destination on Sundays for people from Fruita and Grand Junction. According to McBeth, the hotel held dances. It also had a fine dining room where male attendees were required to wear a coat and tie. The groundskeeper was named Chris Pappas.
