After the displacement of the Utes from the area in 1881, the earliest settlers engaged primarily in ranching and other forms of agriculture. Children attended the Molina School, which was open by at least 1897. According to the website of the Molina Baptist Church, the town was known originally as Snipes. The name was changed by Federal designation around 1906, possibly with the creation of a post office named Molina. According to oral history interviewee Thomas Jefferson Campbell Jr., Molina had a flour mill that was operated by the Lamb family, and that processed wheat farmed in the area. yes yes
