Woods Lake, San Miguel County, Colorado San Miguel County Colorado USA Woods Lake (not to be confused with Woods Lake in Eagle County, Colorado), is a lake within the boundaries of the Grand Mesa Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests area. The closest town to the lake is Telluride, and the lake is situated within San Miguel County, with the Lizard Head Wilderness and the San Juan Mountains visible from the lake. According to oral history interviewee Marion Echternach, the lake was owned by the Woods family. By at the least the 1900's, the Woods had built cabins that they rented to tourists. Tourists were allowed to fish the lake. The cabins were removed sometime prior to 1970. Currently, there is a campground administered by the Forest Service near the lake. yes yes
