      <marmot:placeNotes>A wash that runs through from the north part of town and aligns with 28 Road as it goes southward in Grand Junction. It seems likely that, at one time, the wash, as with other washes that ran north and south through town, was part of the natural drainage from the Bookcliffs mountain range to the north. &#xD;
&#xD;
Through drainage work and the construction of the Highline Canal, such washes ceased to receive storm runoff from the Bookcliffs.</marmot:placeNotes>
